Purpose of the meeting:
At a meeting of the PERF management discussion group several years ago a proposal was made by Chevron that a focused workshop on remediation would be a good direction for PERF to consider. In further support of this initiative, CVX agreed to host the first workshop two years ago in Berkley, California. Attendance was very good (approximately 45), and it was determined that this was indeed a viable activity for PERF to support on an annual basis.

The third annual PERF remediation workshop will be hosted this year by BP in their offices in La Palma, California on September 8 and 9, 2010. The past two workshops have been attended by approximately 50 people that included representatives from the oil industry, consulting firms and laboratories.
Topics covered in the first workshop in 2008 were:
Source characterization tools; In-Situ Chemical Oxidation, liquid reagents and ozone sparging; Innovative tools to monitor remediation processes; and Soil Remediation.
The second workshop in 2009 focused on three issues: phytoremediation/constructed wetlands; contaminated sediments; and vapor intrusion.
This year’s agenda will focus on two topics:
TBA-plume lengths, clean up levels, remediation options, case studies
Biofuels-effect on plume lengths and remediation approaches, vapor pathway issues, and case studies
